COMPASS II
COMPASS II is a community-building initiative to engage our residents, businesses, and organizations in sustained,
collaborative, strategic efforts to strengthen and improve living conditions in Marquette and Alger counties.
COMPASS II not only reveals the key challenges in our communities and helps chart the course for the future, but also provides critical current data to human service organizations so they may procure funding, plan, and initiate programs, and allocate funds to identify priority areas. Three groups were surveyed in Marquette and Alger counties in 2003. Community Survey: 6000 phone calls were made to interview 421 adults. Key Informant Interviews: 34 community and business sector leaders were personally interviewed. Business and Service Provider Survey: surveys were mailed to 1,877 businesses and service organizations, with 85 responding.
