Campaign 2007

Investing in Our Community

what matters.™

separator line

The United Way of Marquette County is in the business of Community Impact – improving lives by focusing community resources to create sustained changes in community conditions. Even as we tackle our impact areas:
• basic needs
• prevention of domestic violence & substance abuse
• youth programs
• health care programs
• the independence of the elderly and adults with disabilities.

Interested in having a campaign at your work place?Click here to download the Workplace Campaign Worksheet. Complete the form and email to unitedway@uwmqt.org. We will supply you with all the campaign materials you need.

For United Way and for our communities, it’s the faces that matter, not the numbers. It’s the people…our friends and neighbors in Marquette County that are helped through dollars contributed to United Way.
What matters is the health and well being and the strength of our children, our elders, our families and the communities they enrich.

What matters is assistance provided to seniors by youth at risk…a win-win activity for both: the seniors have the help they need to maintain their independence, and the youth earn a small paycheck while gaining work experience. One youth quietly saved small his small paychecks were to make sure his young siblings would receive Christmas gifts.

What matters is the woman transitioning from the domestic violence shelter to independence…assisted with the first month’s rent as well as a bed and dresser and household items to begin her “new life.”

What matters is the five youth who were homeless a year ago, but received supportive services and counseling, and who now attend college. They all have a bright future as contributing members of the community.

What matters is the neighbor left speechless by a stroke who can now communicate with a communication device and critical training and support received.

What matters is the 80 year old couple with serious medical concerns who remain independent in their home with Meals-on Wheels, homemaking assistance, assistance with home safety items, and in-home medication injections…all through collaborative efforts of United Way agencies.

What matters is the long term impact of a Little Sister who has grown and developed into a responsible high school student…and has transitioned to be the Big Sister to another child in need.

Because in Marquette County
…the children that grow to become responsible citizens.
…the families that survive economic hardships
…the elderly and adults with disabilities who remain independent in their own homes
…our neighbors who receive medical care they can’t afford…are the faces of United Way. They are…
what matters.™
