The United Way of Marquette County introduces this year’s campaign co-chairs: Shawn Beckman-Owsley and Andrew LaCombe.
Shawn Beckman-Owsley has lived in the Marquette area almost all her life, graduating from Marquette Area Senior High School and earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations from Northern Michigan University in 2005. She works as Manager of River Valley Bank on Third Street in Marquette. Beckman has served on United Way’s community investment panels and been a member of the PR/Marketing Committee at United Way.
Andrew LaCombe is a TV6 Morning News Co-anchor and Assistant News Director. Born and raised in Marquette, Andrew grew up watching TV6 and as a youth participated in 8-18 Media, a program of the UP Children’s Museum. LaCombe is still active on the Children’s Museum Board and now is not only a United Way Co-chair, but Board member as well.
Recently LaCombe said “The Marquette community’s generosity is a major reason why I choose to live here. Being involved with United Way allows me to inform more people about how their donation can make a huge difference in so many different organizations that make our area a special place.”
This year’s fundraising campaign will kick off on September 9, 2019 and will involve United Way’s media partners, who contribute a great deal of publicity for the good of the community. The Co-chairs have set a campaign goal at $400,000, but hope to raise much more this year. Letters, pledges and campaign materials will be mailed and dropped off to individuals and businesses all over Marquette County offering everyone the opportunity to join the cause.
Campaign Coordinator, Sue Minckler, and/or the co-chairs will be happy to schedule a visit to any workplace or organization that would like a 15 minute presentation to learn about the United Way of Marquette County.
