This includes the “Meals While You Heal” program which serves elderly people who are released from the hospital before they can take care of themselves again. Each meal served in both programs is 1/3 of adult daily requirements.

Greater Ishpeming Commission on Aging - $8,458 - Western Township Outreach Worker: Provides an outreach worker to serve senior citizens in western Marquette County. Assesses individual senior needs, brokers referrals to grant-funded services, assists family members, provides a point of contact and arranges in-home services

Negaunee Senior Center - $9,080 - Reaching Out to Seniors: Provides outreach to isolated seniors in Richmond Township who are in need of assistance and coordinates services while helping seniors to remain independent.

Propylon Nonprofit Housing Corporation - $6,705 - Independent Care Services: Provides supplemental funds for tenants to purchase hours of personal care and chore services. Allows tenants to increase the hours of personal care and chore services to a more adequate level. Also provides them the ability to purchase respite care for live-in caregivers.

Retired and Senior Volunteer Program - $6,068 - RSVP Volunteer Support: Volunteers are supported in their effort through training, placement, meal and mileage reimbursement, recognition and liability insurance, thus enabling all seniors age 55 and better to become engaged in meaningful volunteer services. RSVP matches the interest and time of seniors with the needs of the community.

United Cerebral Palsy Michigan - $11,141- Assistive Technology Center: The only such center in the Upper Peninsula serves anyone with a disability who could increase their independence and functioning through assistive devices. For example, a “hands-free” telephone allows someone with mobility limitations to make phone calls independently.

UP Library for the Blind - $2,466 - Leveling the Playing Field: The Library will join a statewide resource sharing system to increase the available large print books. Books on tape and playback equipment are also available free to qualified readers.
